3843.0. "How to get 3.0A for customer" by CHOWDA::GLICKMAN (writing from Newport,RI) Wed Feb 02 1994 15:07

    Hi,

    	My customer got the Digital/DSNlink FLASH for ALL-IN-1 and
    TeamLinks about ALL-IN-1 V3.0A. In this message it described
    to him that if you received your updates via TK50 or MAG tape
    you would get the this update by the end of January. It
    also stated if you received your update via CDROM you
    would get it on the March 1994 CDROM and if you needed
    the kit prior to that time, it can be obtained through
    the local office.

    	This customer currently receives their distribution on
    CDROM and was planning to upgrade to ALL-IN-1 3.0 the
    weekend of February 18. Seeing this message they want to
    go to 3.0A that weekend as they run TeamLinks as well.

    	Hence, I'm the on-site Digital person who is usually
    considered the local office and I don't know how to get this kit.
    Anyone out there have any suggestions?

    Thanks,

      >>> 1) call the CSC

    The Flash also stated that this "is not available upon request
    electronically through DSNlink or DSIN since it is not set up as
    a CSC patch. Instead this kit is is distributed through the
    noraml Digital software distribution process. All contract
    customers should automatically be receiving it."

    Should I still call CSC?

    Thanks,

3843.3Or just copy from IOSGAIMTEC::WICKS_AAtlanta's Most (In)famous WelshmanWed Feb 02 1994 20:5013
    I've no idea who authorised the flash of this article but it certainly
    wasn't my idea - the directory spec of where to get the kit is in
    hidden text which doesn't go out with the flash - catch 22. Also
    it's written in 'management speak' which makes it tough to figure out
    what it's telling you so no wonder you're confused.

    You can copy the kit from node IOSG as stated in 7.6 or call us
    and we'll tell you what's in the hidden text which is basically
    what's in 7.6

      >>> the directory spec of get the kit is in hidden text which
      >>> doesn't go out with the flash.

         What do you mean that this? That the customer gets the flash
         and local office doesn't get the details of where to find
         the kit??

          Also, my customer is currently running ALL-IN-1 2.4. Do
    they do the ALL-IN-1 3.0 and then ALL-IN-1 3.0A?

3843.5I had nothing to do with it honest!!AIMTEC::WICKS_AAtlanta's Most (In)famous WelshmanThu Feb 03 1994 02:2115
    Lynn,

    Was reply .4 posted before or after I phoned you? Can we work this
    off-line? Anyway yes you're right we panic all the customers into
    calling their local offices but we don't tell the local offices where
    to get the kits so they call us anyway - it's doing wonders for our
    call volume already (:==:)

    Your upgrade path is v2.4-->v3.0-->v3.0A don't forget to read the
    release notes, run the CARTs and do all the post-install tasks for
    both upgrades.

    regards,
