3842.0. "Differences document - help needed" by IOSG::EVANSG () Wed Feb 02 1994 11:53

I am currently writing the Differences document for ALL-IN-1
Version 3.1. Traditionally, this document has contained a list
of 'anticipated questions about ALL-IN-1 Version x and answers
    to these questions'.

In the past, these questions have always been the same, just
updated for the various versions. I would like to update the set
of questions and need input from the CSCs (and anyone else who
    would like to help.)

Here's the standard set of questions:

    * How does the performance of ALL-IN-1 Version (new) compare with
      Version (old)

    * Will we need additional hardware to support the samenumber of
      users on our ALL-IN-1 system?

    * We have customized ALL-IN-1 Version x menus and forms. Will we
have to do the customization again when we install ALL-IN-1
      Version (new)?

    * We have developed applications which use ALL-IN-1 Version (old)
functions. Will these applications work with ALL-IN-1 Version (new).

    * Will we need to convert the File Cabinet before using ALL-IN-1
      Version (new)

    * Is it possible to upgrade from ALL-IN-1 Version (very old) directly
      to ALL-IN-1 Version (new)?

    * Must we install all of the software in the ALL-IN-1 Version (new)
upgrade kits when we install ALL-IN-1 Version (new)?

    My questions are:

    1. Are these questions still valid?

    2. What other questions do YOU get asked frequently, which could be
       included in the Differences document?

    Please reply by 25 February.

    Thanks for your help.

    Gilla,

personally, i'd throw away all those fake questions and answers which
noone reads anyway, most people will be more interested in how
long the install takes, whether there's a CART to run and exactly
how they get to ALPHA etc...

Would you take suggestions in person as i'll be in heavenly DEC PARK II
    next week?

    Regards,

    Andy,

brilliant! Yes, if you've got the time, come and see me. I'm in the
office Monday to Wednesday certainly, not sure about Thursday or
Friday. Ring me on x 4617.

I would devote some ink to indicating that subsystems like time
management and communications are in maintenance mode. The only
work being done, is to fix problems where there is a
nonconformance to the SPD or documentation.

My team fields a significant number of these "when are you going
        to fix this subsystem" questions.
