ALL-IN-1 V3.0-1 VMS V5.5-1 Customer when finished editing a document and does F10 to file it sees the following error directly after the "Document filing being completed" message... % OAFC-I-CARDIDNF File Cabinet object does not exist This appears to be happening to all documents within certain folders. Other folders in the same shared drawer appear to be unaffected, and all users accessing the same document see the same error. The do not even need to do anything to the document whilst editing it, they can just do E to edit then file it straight away. There was one article in Stars whereby when you try to refile an unread message to another drawer, but this does not consistent with the CARDIDNF bit. The customer mentions that he has seen this error before but involves another session has deleted the specified object, but says this isn't the case as all documents are still there! The customer doesn't think that there is anything different between the affected folders and those that do not see the problem. He says the problem is on one of his library areas where the documents stay in the folders for years and are only edited periodically, therefore this problem may have occurred some time ago but no-one would have noticed until now. He has also tried getting his users to see if they can create new documents in the affected folders. The message "Creating document . . ." appears, then it returns the error "no new document was created" and a GOLD W reveals.. %OAFC-I-CARDIDNF, File Cabinet object does not exist %OA-I-LASTLINE, The document cannot be accessed for editing %OA-I-LASTLINE, No document was created. Creating documents in the unaffected folders will create ok. Has anyone seen this before?? Thanks, Emma.

Hi, Can you give an example of a folder name that is affected, and one that isn't. Thanks Stuart

Emma, does note 166 in this conference on any of the article in STARS e.g 205-RFD UNREAD Mail To Another Drawer; 'File Cabinet Object does not exist' apply in this case. regards, Andrew.D.Wicks

Andrew, Read that note when I was first aware of the problem, and the user assures me it has nothing to do with refiling unread mail. The error "File Cabinet Object does not exist" is the same but it is the first bit %OAFC-I-CARDIDNF is different to the above problem I believe. Have just heard from the customer, he seems to have found the problem. Out of 447 Folders, only 2 were known to be affected. These had names such as.. H.OVEN 3" DIA. X 36" DUAL H.OVEN 5" DIA.X 36" It appears any folder name with double quotes in the name will produce this problem. So he has removed the double quotes and everything has now returned to normal. Thanks for the help, Emma.

3821.5 | It's a bug | IOSG::MAURICE | I left my heart in Alcatraz | Fri Jan 28 1994 09:53 | 8 |
Hi, Thanks for the information. We have found the problem in the editing scripts, which were not allowing for quotes in the folder name. Cheers Stuart |
