Understand that by setting OA$MTI_TRNS to 1, outgoing MAILs will be converted to ASCII format. Documents will not. Is it possible to force all outgoing MAILs and DOCUMENTs to be converted to ASCII format ? There was a discussion or wish for future release but it was open-ended. Any workaround ? Customer forwarding all mails to a UNIX system is facing this problem. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks and regards, ching-U

As usual, it is possible to do this (most things are possible in ALL-IN-1), but it probably wouldn't be the best solution. If you only want mail sent to the UNIX systems to be converted, you need the converter software somewhere between ALL-IN-1 and UNIX. If you did it inside ALL-IN-1, then the conversion woulkd probably have to be done for all recipients - possibly even other local A1 users. How does the mail get to UNIX - what gateways are used? Ideally, the conversion could be done there. Or in MRGATE. Or even (heavyweight solution, unless you already have it) the MAILbus Conversion Manager. You can get info on that in TAMDNO::MSG_SOLUTIONS (?) - it would be worth loking in there for answers anyway. grahame |
