3790.0. "WISH: Install doco should mention FCS tuning" by GIDDAY::JOYCE (Smoke On The Wallabies...) Thu Jan 20 1994 23:35

Can we have tuning of the File Cab servers added to the list of manual
post-install tasks in the doco please?

I know that it is fully docmentated in the Management Guide but most
system managers (in my experience) only use it for reference; i.e. they
don't read the whole thing cover to cover before installing or
    upgrading ALL-IN-1!

A number of customers have been caught out after upgrading to V3.0 by
hopelessly inadequately tuned FC servers (which by default only cater for
    50 concurrent users).

All it would take is a mention in the Install Guide (not the Release
Notes - nobody ever reads them!) referring the reader to Chapter 15 of
    the Management Guide.

    Thanks, Andy

    Andy,

That's probably a very valid point, especially as now we have TeamLinks
V2.0 which will result in more IOS users manipulating the server.

That sounds like a reasonable request. I've passed it on the the
    Installation Guide writer.

    Hi Andy,

I think I know the site and person concerned ;-).

Apart from this one person whome I know quite well, it is a must that
the customers are refered to the pages concerned with tuning the
server. I have had a number of calls where customers hadn't a clue
about the tuning requirements and we didn't have had these calls
    logged.

    Regards,
