Hi,
This announcement is intended for those poeple who may have a requirement to
scan in documents and distribute them via ALL-IN-1.
Digital has developed a relationship with a company called Genesis, based in
Kansas City. Genesis have developed a piece of softare called ImageNow which
enables customers to transform exitisting mainframe based applications runing
on ICL, IBM or or DEC machines into image capable applications. This is
achieved by a simple method of teaching ImageNow about each mainframe
application to which images need to be linked. ImageNow is available in both
MS-Window and X-Windows clients. Once scanned in, the images are automatically
indexed using data from the mainframe screen as key fields. The image key data
is stored in an Rdb database and access to the images is achieved via another
piece of software called Object Storage Manager. When viewing images it is
possible to deposit the image into the ALL-IN-1 file cabinet from where it can
be mailed to anyone on the ALL-IN-1 network.
This is a very cost efective way of providing both image capability within
existing applications and ALL-IN-1 integration. If you would like to know more
