3665.0. "Integration ALL-IN-1/DECMailworks: help" by TRNOIS::ASSELLE (Turin-Italy 7871-7231) Wed Dec 15 1993 11:31

    Hi to all.

By reading and searching through this conference, I believe someone can
help me out in solving an integration problem I have.

I will try to make myself as much clear as possible, but the scenario
is not very easy. I used to be an ALL-IN-1 System Manager, but I
left this job on ALL-IN-1 v.2.3 and do not know very much of the
version 2.4 there is at customer site.

    The scenario is as follows:

One system (NODE A) with these products installed:

    - ALL-IN-1 v.2.4
    - DECMailworks Server v1.1-C
    - MR V3.2 (BL9.07)
    - DDS (MBMAN) V3.2-000 (BL5.26)
    - MRX S2.2-004

Another system (NODE B) with these products installed:

    - DECMailworks Server v.1.1-C
    - MR V3.2 (BL9.07)
    - DDS (MBMAN) V3.2-000 (BL5.26)
    - MRX V2.2G

The two systems, to talk one another via x.400 use an Ultrix
system acting as MTA (this is for infos purposes only)

    Now my problems are:

    1) Allow DECMailworks users from NODE B to send messages to ALL-IN-1
users on NODE A using DDS
    2) Allow ALL-IN-1 users from node A to send messages to DECMailworks
users on node B using their directory or possibly DDS
    3) Allow both users (ALL-IN-1 and DECMailworks) to exchange messages
       via x.400

The situation right now is that the two "world" (ALL-IN-1 and
    DECMailworks) are separately correctly working.

My goal is to integrate these two "worlds"

Here is the way I thought for implementing such a goal:

    1) Since DDS are working properly on DECMAilworks site (I populate them
through MRXMAN which automatically updates MBMAN, so that I also allow
      x.400 access) I believe I could solve problem # 1 and # 3 by adding all
      ALL-IN-1 users under MRXMAN

    2) To solve problem # 2 I thought of manually adding the network
address of all DECMailworks users through MAD (Maintain mail
addresses) so that an ALL-IN-1 user can select a DECMailworks user
       directly.

From the ALL-IN-1 v2.4 istallation guide I have read there is the
possibility to allow ALL-IN-1 users to access DDS database. Is this
the same database I have for DECMailworks users? How can I make it
available to ALL-IN-1 users and how can they access it ?

By checking NODE A configuration, the logical OA$DDS_PRIME is set to
"0", which means they have selected this configuration while upgrading
from previous version....how can I change it now ? Will it help in
    solving my integration problem?
Is there anyone who has a better solution for problem # 2 ?

Besides all above, I have another problem:

some users on NODE A have an ALL-IN-1 account and a DECMailworks
account which points to the same "father" directory, so the MRREVLOOKUP
    would be:

xxxxx@AM@nodename -----> for the DECMailworks account
    xxxxx@A1@nodename -----> for the ALL-IN-1 account

HOW CAN I INTEGRATE THIS SITUATION ????????
I could not find any possible solution !!!!

Sorry for my entry being so long, but I have tried to be clear.

PLEASE, CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT IN SOLVING THESE PROBLEMS ???
ANY INPUTS/SUGGESTIONS ARE VERY GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND SUPPORT.

    Ciao,
