3659.0. "/FOREIGN Documents to Captive ALL-IN-1 Accounts" by MKOTS1::HUGHSON () Mon Dec 13 1993 15:39
This note was also posted in the PowerPoint and PostScript Printing
notes conference. Attached were the answers given to me in the
PostScript Printing notes file and leading me to here.
Question 2 pertains to the ALL-IN-1 Issue.
1. The version of ALL-IN-1 I am using in Version 3.0
2. The following information about the /FOREIGN document:
(When I select the document and type Gold-V)
- Data Type = FOREIGN
- Handling = This line is blank
- Number of attachments - 0
Please let me know if you need more information.
1. Question pertained to PowerPoint. (Posted in PowerPoint notes file)
2. We have found that if any type of bitmapped image is used in a
PowerPoint source, the PostScript file created HAS to be sent
MAIL/FOREIGN (regular MAIL can only handle 7 bit ASCII and bitmap
images are 8 bit??). Our problem occurs when a person requests
that the PostScript file be sent to their ALL-IN-1 account, it
arrives as a /FOREIGN document. Since I have access to DCL, I have the
ability to Document Transfer (DT) and then Send Without Conversion
(SVC) the file to my [.A1] subdirectory, then get out of ALL-IN-1 to $
and print the file as usual.
My question is this: What does a person do with a /FOREIGN document if
they have a captive ALL-IN-1 account (sales reps in particular) and
DO NOT have access to the DCL level ($ prompt)??
Any information you can give me would be appreciated!!
Regards,
Kathy Hughson

If you are using ALL-IN-1 V3.0 this information can be obtained

3659.1 | Update Handling to PS | IOSG::NEWLAND | Richard Newland, IOSG, REO2-G/L2 | Mon Dec 13 1993 15:52 | 8 |
| Select the message and use the U (Update) option to set the Handling to
'PS'. This tells ALL-IN-1 to handle the message as a PostScript message.
Then print the message as normal to an ALL-IN-1 Printer Destination which
has been set up to handle PostScript.
