3631.0. "Simultaneous ARCHIVING jobs ???" by TAV02::CHAIM (Semper ubi Sub ubi .....) Mon Dec 06 1993 07:40

ALL-IN-1 V2.4

A Customer wants to run several archiving jobs simultaneously breaking up the
jobs into small units. This appears not to work as she is receiving errors
about the file cabinet being locked.

Any way to work-around this?

Thanks,

Cb.

I don't have an answer, but would like to know, how they split the
work. Do they run one archiving job per user?

She made the split utilizing the DEPARTMENT. In other words, she put different
users in different groups. Then she created several ADS jobs (to run at the
same time) each on a different department.

The actual error that she received was from SMJACKET:

"Have been locked out by another Housekeeping Utility"

Thanks,

Cb.

Because the housekeeping jobs do file conversions, deletions, etc, the
housekeeping control routines (SMJACKET et al) check that only one housekeeping
job is active at any one time.

This is to prevent things going wrong. There is no workaround. Sorry.
