3566.0. "Need to REORDER a form library" by NEWVAX::MZARUDZKI (I AXPed it, and it is thinking...) Tue Nov 23 1993 13:25

     Greetings,

I need to clean up a customers form library, it has been abused.
I would like to reorder the forms in the library, make them pleasing
to behold... have found reorder.com in oa$lib. Reorder.com says it
is submitted from SM, where? When I try to run it at DCL level passing
the form library as p1 it croaks on the trim cld with the error
     "XPO-E-TEXT, error closing 'UD1:[ALLIN1.SITE.LIB_ENGLISH]FORMS.COM;1'
    for input
    -XPO-E-FREE_MEM, dynamic memory deallocation error
    -XPO-E-BAD_ADDR, invalid memory address
%XPO-E-PREV_ERROR, program terminated due to previous error"

My memory looks ok, what gives?

3566.2Need to "sort" the forms internal to the libraryNEWVAX::MZARUDZKII AXPed it, and it is thinking...Tue Nov 23 1993 15:2110

     re .-1

yes, that reorganizes and cleans up disk space. Do we have anything
that reorders, "sorts", the forms internally in the library. Or must
I externally fms/create a new library and manually stick back the forms
in alphabetical sequence. Sorry for not being clear on this.

    -Thanks in advance.

3566.4Why bother?IOSG::PYEGraham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's ApprenticeTue Dec 21 1993 13:055
My understanding is that sorting the forms into alphabetical order
didn't give you any performance gain anyway. We build a Balanced Binary
Tree of the names in memory when the library is opened.

    -< Why bother? >-

because it looks nice when I query it outside of ALL-IN-1.
