3528.0. "Messages?" by UTROP1::ZABORSZKY_I (Ilonka Zborszky @UTO) Fri Nov 12 1993 16:31

    Why is there no message facility in ALL-IN-1? F.e. instead of creating
    a complete mail to colleagues, I would like to send a short message
    which appears on yr screen, just like the messages that you get back
    when printing files. In some occassions you have to send an urgent
    phone message or whatever and the person in question will notice
    that mail is sent, but doesn't always read the incoming mail
    immediately. I know there is a Phone Terminal available, but it doesn't
    work the same way.

    Get your VMS system manager to install the REPLY image with the OPER
    privilege, and then you can (from DCL) type REPLY/USER=FRED "Message".

    It would then be a SMOP to program an ALL-IN-1 menu option to use this.

    ALternatively, there's an ASSET called PMEMOS which creates and sends
    very short mail messages from an argument form.
