I am going to upgrade/transfer a system from ALL-IN-1 2.4 to ALL-IN-1 3.0. They are currently using ALL-IN-1 on a MicroVaX 3600 with cluster-wide Licensing to a VAX 6610 Cluster with Personal Use Licensing. The approach is: PHASE 1 Install ALL-IN-1 2.4 on the VAX 6610 then transfer all the customization, data files, user files, mail areas, etc from the MicroVAX 3600 to VAX 6610. Cut users over to the new system. PHASE 2 (A month later) Upgrade from ALL-IN-1 2.4 to ALL-IN-1 3.0 on the VAX 6610. The question I have is, if they purchase Personal Use License for ALL-IN-1 V3.0, will the licenses work with ALL-IN-1 2.4 until we upgrade ALL-IN-1 in PHASE 2? Thanks, Mike Trotti

Mike, disclaimer - i am more technically incompetent on licences than I am on any other part of ALL-IN-1 but this may be all you need to know The ALL-IN-1 licences capacity, personal use etc licences aren't version specific. Regards, Andrew.D.Wicks | |||||

Yes, your V3.0 ALLIN1-PERSONAL licences will work on both V2.4 and V3.0, they were not really changed for V3.0 although the way we handle them was changed. We couldn't change them because then they wouldn't combine with older licences. You may get a problem with VMS though, if you run an "oldish" version of VMS on your V2.4 system (I can be more specific if you press me! :-) then new licences won't load on your old VMS. You can get an LMF upgrade for older VMS versions though (back to V5.2 I seem to remember). Regards, Paul |
