Hi, I've an ALL-IN-1 IOS customer, who recently did an upgrade to V3.0 on a single node. There is Message Router installed but since all the mail is going through one node so MR never started and in the upgrade they didn't specify to ALL-IN-1 that it's going to use the MR. Now they have bought TeamLinks mail V1.1 and would like to have TeamLinks mail user to exchange mail with ALL-IN-1 IOS users what the sequence of step that the customer has to perform to have the environment setup properly for the mail exchange ? Please correct me if I'm wrong, I think the customer has to do the following: 1. Configure Message Router and MRGATE 2. Start Message Router and MRGATE 3. Re-install, an update installation of ALL-IN-1 V3.0 (is this necessary ? is there any set up procedure that could be done to eliminate the need of the re-installation ?) 4. Install DEC MAILworks Server 5. Install TeamLinks Mail Client on PC 5. Populate ALL-IN-1 IOS user into DDS 6. Populate DEC MAILworks user into DDS Thanks, Lucia 5.

Hi Lucia, Two things you should be sure of (at least!): You only need MRGATE if you are sending mail to VMSmail users. If all your users are IOS or TeamLinks, then you don't need it. Do you really need or want DDS? It takes a fair bit of managing, and should only be used if you really want a distributed directory. grahame | |||||

As a matter of interest, has this customer looked at TeamLinks V2? This will allow them to use ALL-IN-1 as the server, and all mail will continue to be local with no need for MR transport within the node. Or did they have a specific reason to add the MAILworks server? |
