 Hi,
I have a customer who had the problem with the SDA giving an
internal error in the Housekeeping procedure on V3.0 ALL-IN-1
	(In case it's relevant - VMS 5.5-2)
I have changed the procedure SM_SHUTDOWN.COM using Customization
Management, and now I get the following on shutting down. The
restart is not queued, and the following mail is received :-
Does anybody have any idea how I get the auto-restart facility to
     	work?
          H O U S E K E E P I N G E X C E P T I O N R E P O R T
Procedure type:Shutdown ALL-IN-1
Description of procedure: BOUNCE_A1
Procedure error:
This procedure cannot run while ALL-IN-1 is shutdown

The failure log is: OA$LOG:SHUTDOWN_ALL-IN-1_SM.LOG1993102516450000
The log file is given below :-
$! SMJACKET.COM V3.0 - 004
Ensure the form libraries are open
Preset status values
See if we need to shut down - and store the result
Get the name of the submitter from the schedule file
Check that the submitter in the schedule file still
exists in the profile
Submitter is a valid account entry
Verify that the submitter has a VMS account entry in the profile
Verify that the submitter's VMS account is still valid
See if the submitter holds VMS identifier OA$MANAGER
Passed security checks - submitter has appropriate identifier(s)
Autorescheduling - set next run date for repeated run
Now reschedule the job - calling queue_job.scp
Set the job parameters
Procedure completed - exiting SMJACKET.SCP
%OA-I-LASTLINE, Auto-rescheduling procedure for 26-Oct-1993 04:45pm .
    Please wait
%OA-I-LASTLINE, Scheduling operation completed successfully
%SMJACKET-E this procedure cannot run while ALL-IN-1 is shutdown
%SMJACKET-I performing %SMJACKET exit and cleanup processing
%SMJACKET-I close lockfiles
%SMJACKET-I %SMJACKET facility exiting due to error
%SMJACKET-E processing completed with an error for %SMJACKET
I understand that the mail is probably correct, but surley the auto-restart
must be submitted before ALL-IN-1 goes down. Does anybody have any ideas
as to why the restart is not happening.
Thanks in advance for any help ....

| Err, Maybe it's obvious, but had they already shutdown ALL-IN-1, either manually or via another housekeeping job, before the SDA ran? Scott | |||||
| 3447.2 | No - not obvious at all ..! | EBYGUM::ADAMSONB | I'm nae gonna disagree..BUT.. | Tue Oct 26 1993 11:00 | 13 |

    Re. 1

No this is certainly not the case ... when SDA runs ALL-IN-1 is up and
running just fine. It's possible to watch the batch job starting to
execute, and as should happen, ALL-IN-1 gets shutdown. But the restart
job never even reaches the queue.

Thnaks for the suggestion, but it really isn't that obvious.

     Cheers,

     Brian
