3361.0. "Extend the mail subject to 1000 chars" by KERNEL::OTHENJ () Tue Oct 05 1993 16:51

Hello,

ALL-IN-1 v2.4
Personal Assistant v1.0

I have also written this note in the APA notes file, but as it concerns the
extension of one of the SDAF fields, I thought someone may be able to help
me here as well.

Manager uses APA to say if addressee does not include secretary, then
forward mail to this person. With Wordperfect documents, the secretary
received a stack dump when reading the mail message. The manager can read
this mail message though in his own account, and if forwarded normally then
the secretary can read the mail.

The customer has a script file which tries to display cab$ extended
attributes, and this also stack dumps, so it looks like a problem with the
sdaf.

The customer checked through the forward script for APA, and found that it
writes the chars APA at position :996 in the mail subject field. The customer
changed this to the start of the subject, and now finds that all documents
work fine.

Would you expect this to cause problems with the SDAF, even though it is a
variable field? If anyone knows if Wordperfect should make a difference in
this problem, I would be very interested to find out.

Thanks,

		Julie

It's a known problem with the WPS-PLUS (or all text??) DSAB such that
it crashes on records (including the title) longer than 255 characters.

I think it should be fixed!
