3308.1 | It's after the Openserver | FORTY2::ASH | Mail Interchange Group, Reading | Wed Sep 22 1993 10:33 | 12 |
| I think there may be another piece of software involved. You problem certainly
won't lie in ALL-IN-1 (which CAN'T do what you suggest) nor MR nor MRX
(ditto). But I believe that you need a gateway between the Openserver and
MS-Mail. If MS-Mail cannot receive multiple-bodypart messages, then that
gateway (most probably a Retix one, but there may be a MS one?) will have to
concatenate them.
It's certainly in the area of Openserver->MS-Mail that you need to look.
There may be more expertise in the MAILbus conf if you need more help.

There is, as you say, a gateway between the Retix and MS-Mail
post-offices. The person who manages the Retix/gateway/MS-Mail
side (who is not exactly a big fan of Digital) says that attachments
from other mail systems seem to come through just fine, and it is only
mail from ALL-IN-1 that is a problem.
This seems to be true as far as I can tell. Is there such a thing as
an "industry-standard" attachment that my side (ALL-IN-1, MRX et al)
isn't sending? Are there any MTA settings in MRX that I need to tweak?
ALL-IN-1 attachments work, of course, when sent to other ALL-IN-1
systems on the network.
Thanks,
Neal

| I'd be surprised if it was just 'mail from ALL-IN-1' that was the problem.
After all, it's actually from MRX, and it's well used to sending to any and
all X.400 implementations. It does sound as if there may be a setup parameter
wrong.
You should be able to get help in the MAILbus conference on Forty2 - both for
MRX and the Retix stuff.
