3306.0. "moving ALL-IN-1 to another cluster ?" by MSAM03::HOSOKEHUN () Tue Sep 21 1993 08:48

    Hi,

Need some advice on the following:

Customer has purchased a brand new cluster system to be networked into
their present cluster systems. Now, they want to move ALL-IN-1 V3.0
from the 'old' cluster system to the 'new' cluster system.

Is there any 'documented' way of doing this ?

I can think of 2 ways:

    1. install ALL-IN-1 V3.0, MR etc on the new cluster and move all the
users over from the old cluster ? What do I have to watch out for other
than making sure all users read and file their mails ? Do I have to set
up the ALL-IN-1 environment as in the old cluster, like the share
    areas, mail areas etc ??

    2. backup the ALL-IN-1 and users disks and restore on the new cluster ?
However, the node name is not the same in this case, would that effect
MR and ALL-IN-1 ? If there a way to reset the node name and address in
    MR and ALL-IN-1 ?

    Any suggestions/experience is welcome.

    Thanks in advance,
    Angeline

There are several notes in this conference already about moving
systems, merging systems, moving discs etc., all of which contain good
    advice.

    BUT....

I had read the notes related to moving ALL-IN-1.

I was thinking someone has the experience to say which of the above
methind which I outlined is the easier/better/error-proof.. method.
    or maybe any GOTCHAs...

Also, from the notes replies, there seem to have problems with drawers of
V3.0. I am just gathering experience from here if any to try to not
make a blunder when I am on-site doing the move, since its not
documented on the manual and I do have any system to do any testing !
