3296.0. "ALL-IN-1 3.0 closed Mail Areas and BMA problem" by BUSHIE::SETHI () Mon Sep 20 1993 06:55

    Hi All,

Firstly I have read 2010 and this topic is in relation to Version 2.4.
I have a real problem in that one of my customers has closed a mail
area and run BMA. BMA has not updated an the Mail Destination flag in
the user profile for 10 users as far as the customer can tell, they
have 900 registered users. These 10 users have their all their mail
in OA$SHARC and it is suppose to be closed. This is on a version 3.0
    system.

I have looked in Stars but there is nothing regarding this problem. I
have suggested to the customer that they OPEN the CLOSED area than
CLOSE it and run BMA. The customer seems a bit reluctant to do so, he
somehow doesn't like the "trust me" line :-).

The other suggestion I have made is to change the profile to force mail
to go the other Mail Areas.

I guess what I am asking for here are a couple of things and these are:

    1. Do you think my approach is correct ?
    2. Has anyone else come across this problem before ?

One final thing the customer no longer has the Housekeeping logfiles as
the BMA was done many moons ago, so I can't even check the logfiles.

Thanks for your help in advance,

    Sunil

Sunil,

Are these ten users all in the same department (ie profile field DEPART)?

Are these active users (ie are their accounts disabled; is the NOT$IN$USE
profile field set, etc)?

Are they sure the mail area was really closed when they ran BMA?

Without the log file, which might give clues to any problems that BMA
encountered (eg it's possible that BMA didn't even run!), there's not a lot to
go on.

I suggest they run BMA again, making sure that the mail area really is closed,
and see what happens.
