3243.0. "FCS denies del priv to reserved copies" by WPOPTH::BEESON (Down Under in the bottom left corner) Tue Sep 07 1993 11:27

    Hi,

We have a slight issue with the copying of a file to another disk for
which the user does not have a disk quota entry. The work around was
to do a filcab reserve and replace. That is reserving the empty object
to a dummy file and replacing it with the real item.

There is one problem when we try to delete the dummy file it has a
protection which denies delete priv to system and owner. The obvious
work around is add an ACL to the file to allow delete and then delete
    it.

Is this the expected behaviour? Is there a better way of moving
objects between disks in this type of environment?

    Regards,
    ajb

Back to the beginning. What were you trying to do? Copy a document to
someone else's drawer or import a file into someone else's drawer? In
either case you should be able to do it as long as the drawer owner has
sufficient quota for that drawer's disk.

What problem did you have when you tried to do a normal copy or
document transfer? You certainly shouldn't have to go through the
    convoluted procedure you described.

Do you have V3.0 or V3.0-1?

    Cheers

    Dick
