3216.0. "Need advice: 1000 drawers on one system" by STKHUV::MARTENSSON () Tue Aug 31 1993 13:23

      Hi,

One of the bigger ALL-IN-1 customers here in Sweden, Swedish National
Road Administration, has now implemented ALL-IN-1 v3.0 on 5 of their
      7 production systems.

The Road Admin now want's to use the drawers for project planning and
      documentation.

      This are the ideas:

An object: This should be a drawer. An object can be new road
                   project or a bridge or a ....
An object can be active for 2 mounth to 5 years
An object can contain 10 - 100 items.

An item: This can be letters, spread sheets, minutes, planning
                   documents ....

The objects should be shared between 5 to 15 users.
In this moment, the objects/drawers will be shared between local
ALL-IN-1-accounts, but in the future between other ALL-IN-1 systems
and between different platforms (ie. TeamLinks).

An user will have access to between 1 to 15 drawers.
A "working man" will have access to 1-5 drawers.
Some "bosses" will have access to mostly 15 drawers.

Users who share a drawer, will not have the same access rights to the
      drawer.

All items in a drawer will probably have the same level of access
      rights.

      A typical Road Admin system: 400 - 1000 ALL-IN-1 subscribers. The
system performance are OK today, without drawers.

      My concerns:

What will happen with the performance?
Can ALL-IN-1 handle 1000 shared drawers?

All input and ideas are welcome!

      Regards
      Lars-Olof Mrtensson, PTG/MCS Sweden
