3113.0. "XRAD on OFFLINE arch area - bad rest'd msg (Now SPR'd)" by COMICS::BARHAM (Norbert:) Fri Aug 06 1993 12:13

    ALL-IN-1 3.0-1

Has anyone noticed that if you XRAD multiple archived documents from an
offline area (on tape), it incorrectly states

    n documents have been restored

The requests have correctly been entered into the retrieval requests
queue but this is very confusing for the users who wonder why
they still can't read their documents after a 'successful' restore.

An RAD on the same documents correctly says

The archive is not on line, the document will be restored by the operator

Any quick script changes to fix this please ?

    Thanks,

    Clive

    Hi,

This seems to be a bug so it needs an SPR. I see from yout title that you
have submitted one, but it hasn't appeared on our database yet.

The problem is in form EM$INDEX$OPTIONS in XOP RAD_MULTIPLE_FILING_LOOP.
At the end of the loop the message should specify how many have been
restored already and how many will be restored later by the operator.

To fix it you would need a new count variable that you would reset to 0 at
the start of RAD, and that you would increment in script
ARCHIVE_RESTORE_USER_DOCUMENTS at the point where it displays the
OA$_ARC_DOC_NOT_ONLINE message. Then the new message could be put out.

    > Any quick script changes to fix this please ?

Doesn't sound like a quick fix, but not a slow fix either!

    Cheers
