3079.0. "Cannot refile documents into INBOX with patch V3.0-1" by BACHUS::WOOD (I couldn't resist the fish!) Wed Jul 28 1993 09:33

A customer has found an interesting little problem.

Scenario;

When going on holiday users AF their mail to a central account. The
maintainer of that account deals with any Urgentc requests and puts all the
mail into a seperate shared drawer.

User on return from his holidays MCF's the folder from the shared drawer into
his INBOX folder in drawer MAIN

Result;

With patch installed (ALL-IN-1 V3.0-1); it is impossible to read or select the
document. (my patched machine is unavailable due to power cut, so I cannot give
the exact message) However the documents can be seen via II.

On unpatched system; The documents can be read selected etc.

If anybody has any ideas on a workaround I'd be happy to hear them.
Unfortunatly we in Belguim still cannot send in problem reports (just CLD's)
I'm told we will have a problem reporting system soon (Fx hysterical laughter!)

Cheers,
Andy

3079.2known bugCHRLIE::HUSTONWed Jul 28 1993 15:0613

    this is a known bug in V3.0-1 and I believe there is an ICF to fix
    it.

    Problem is that the FCS cannot see the inbox. One temporary way around
    this, that should work, is have the users MCF into anything other
    than INBOX, as long as it is in the users MAIN drawer, all will be
    ok. Once this MCF is done, then do another MCF from that folder to
    the inbox. The difference. The first MCF will use the FCS, the second
    won't.

    ICF 9 hopefully resolves this.

    Can a non-privileged user find a way to dislodge this message
    and move it back to someplace else?

3079.8workaround that should workCHRLIE::HUSTONTue Aug 10 1993 15:497

    To work aroudn this have the user move the stuff into some other folder
    in the MAIN drawer, then move it from there to the INBOX. the first
    move willuse the FCS, the second will not. The bug is in the FCS.

    Thanks, I am in the process of getting ICF #9 to send to the
    customer.
    To clarify my last question: Once this document HAS been already
    moved to the MAIN/INBOX, is there a way to bring it back to life?
    Or will it become magically visible again after ICF#9 is installed?

    I have duplicated the problem in my account, only to be flailing around
    trying to grab that sucker again. I unfortunately have no record
    of the document number......
