3031.0. "Move archive area to tape (MAA)" by BPSOF::NAGY_O (The 8th day God created the Harley Davidson...) Tue Jul 20 1993 11:57
Hi,
I substitute for Kati Lovas (ALL-IN-1 Manager at BPS) while she's on holiday,
and would like to ask if anyone knows why archive areas are moved to tape
INTERACTIVELY ? Can it be customized to run in batch?
I've been fighting with the MAA (Move Archive Area to Tape) option for more
than a week now. It can run as long as 8 hours (!!), and if it happens to fail
it gives quite a lot of work to backup the archive directory and try moving
it again.
Even if the delete operation fails for a file (like at the very end of the
process), the status of the area remains CLOSED and the archive
area is empty except that one file. Is it really the way this option was meant
to "work" ?
If this nightmare ran in batch at least it wouldn't crash that easely...
Thanks in advance,
Orsolya Nagy
