3002.0. "ALL-IN-1 profile renamed not OpenVMS when using RNA" by GIDDAY::SETHI (Ahhhh (-: an upside down smile from OZ) Wed Jul 14 1993 05:27
Hi All,
I have come across an odd ball of a "problem" that I think would be
useful to people in the field and else where. Under Version 3.0 shared
accounts are not allowed because of the existance of shared filing.
However when you upgrade from the previous versions the profile records
aren't checked to see if the ALL-IN-1 account is shared.
There are two ways of sharing an account these are 1. VMS username
field is blank 2. VMS usernames are the same for n number of users.
When a customer tried to rename an account the logfile had the
following message:
"If shared VMS account than scrap the rename of the VMS account
VMS account is shared so VMS rename will not take place"
It's important to ensure that you do not have user profile records
pointing to the same VMS name. To audit your PROFILE.DAT do the
following:
get #vms_username="<VMSname>"
FOR PROFIL WITH .VMSUSR EQS #vms_username DO get .user
Gold W will give you a list of all the users who share the same
username.
Just thought that this would be useful as it's a bit of an odd ball.
Regards,
Sunil
