2997.0. "remote VTX access from ALL-IN-1" by ANGLIN::ROGERS () Mon Jul 12 1993 22:56

Southwestern Bell wants to have a VTX server set up in one VAXcluster,
and let VT-users on another cluster in the network access the remote
server from ALL-IN-1. (The DEC VTX SPD seems to indicate that the
customer doesn't have to buy any client VTX license).

The customer has no idea how to go about setting that up and has asked
how to go about it. Any ideas or pointers?

(PC clients are a separate issue -- this is for VT users on those
    remote clusters).

Since my (very excellent) VTX resource was caught in the latest TFSO, I
am hoping I can get some help here in this conference.

    Thanks,
    Larry

    Larry,

the product name is ALL-IN-1 (all in capitals) as the gentle reminder
tells you when you open this conference. Please spell it correctly
I have corrected the title of your note - the mispellings in the text
will no doubt be corrected by an IOSG based mod in the morning.

    regards,

I suspect the VTX conference is the best place to ask (sorry don't know
where it is, but at a guess try node CASEE::) However, assuming you've
installed the VTX client, don't you just define the logical VTX$SERVER
to point to the server(s) ?? That seems to be how we (Digital) do it.

    HTH,
       Paul.

    Apologies for the lower-case gaffe.

We did post a query in the VTX notes file and received a reply similar
to .2, but it seemed a bit vague. Again, we are handicapped by no
longer having a VTX-familiar resource here locally. I was fishing for
    a somewhat more certain response.

I am sure this is one of those "dumb-stuff" questions, but that's where
    we are right now.

I think we now have enough information from the VTX_TECHNICAL
conference to point the customer in the right direction.

    Thanks for your help!

    Regards,
    Larry
