2994.0. "RSD Housekeeping: Error Creating New Directories" by EIGER::WORK19::BURKHALTER () Mon Jul 12 1993 14:48

ALL-IN-1 V2.4

Hi all

Just a simple question I couldn't find an answer for.
Customer has found the following section in the LOG-File of the
Reorganize Shared Directories Housekeeping-Procedure:

*************************************************************************
Directory "OA$SHARE8": size 144, files 87, file size 1376
Directory "OA$SHARE9": size 144, files 80, file size 1184
Number of directories found: 30

Checking write windows
No disks for directory creation in mail area E
Error creating new directories for mail area E
Not all write windows correctly processed

Updating SDAF master file
SDAF master file record updated for mail area E
SDAF master file successfully updated
%SMJACKET-I Invoking common END_BATCH procedure
%END_BATCH-I Performing End batch job procedures for "RSD"
*************************************************************************

I found the Stars-Entry "RSD Housekeeping Procedure in V2.4 Is Not
Creating Directories As Expected". The "Create New Dirs Flag" in
SM_UTILITY_MASTER (Record RSD) is set to 1. "Number of Dirs to
Create" and "Disk & Directory To Create Shared Dierectories in" are
empty.

My question: Do I need to enter the "Disk & Directory To Create Shared

Thanks for your help

There is a data file (actually one file per mail area), called:
    OA$DATA_SHARE:OA$SHARx_DEVICE_MASTER.DAT

Where 'x' is the mail area, from A to E. This file contains the names of the
disks on which RSD will create directories for that mail area.

The error message in the log is telling you that this file is empty (or
non-existent).

To add disk names to the file, use the option SM MMA (SEL mail area) CDD
