2960.0. "ALL-IN-1 V2.3 got support under VMS V5.5-2 ???" by HTSC19::SIMONLAU () Mon Jul 05 1993 05:17

    Hi,

    A customer reported a problem encountered in their ALL-IN-1 operations,
    we found out that the version of ALL-IN-1 they're running is V2.3, and
    VMS is V5.5-2. Based on the article "Layered Product Compatibility" in
    TIMA STAR with latest update on 7-APR-1993, it stated:

    ========================================================================
    Product: ALL-IN-1 Integrated Office System Server for OpenVMS, 27.30

    UPIs:  AAA* - base system
           AAB* - add-on user interface
           VNP* - license only for migration from ALL-IN-1 STARTER to full
                  ALL-IN-1; no kit

           * = for a license order, the * should be filled in with the
               language code of the language desired; for a kit, the *
               should be filled in with the country code.

    Version        VMS Supt      LMF Supt
      2.2         4.7 - 5.2         No
      2.3    4.7, 5.1 - 5.4      See NOTES
      2.4         5.1 - 5.5      See NOTES

      3.0         5.4 - 5.5      See NOTES

    NOTES: Name changed from ALL-IN-1 at V3.0.

            V2.3 requires VMS V5.0-2 or later. Does not work under V5.0 or
            V5.0-1.

   ========================================================================

    When compare with the note 6.6 ( updated on OCT-1992 ) of this
    conference which indicated ALL-IN-1 V2.3 was supported under
    VMS V5.5-2 :

     V5.5-2 V3.2      V2.4      V2.3,      Certified by IOSG Eng. 11-AUG-92
                                V2.4-1/    See Note 9.
                                V3.0
                               V1.0/V2.4
                                 AIS

    Anybody could clarify this compatibility issue ?

    ALL-IN-1 V2.3 got support under VMS V5.5-2 ???

    Your help would be appreciated.

    Thanks a lot for your input.

    Best regards
    Simon

    simon,

    do you know the source of the TIMA article? the last compatibility
    matrix received from IOSG Support is the one in October which is the
    STARS one and here in Atlanta that's the one we go with at the
    moment subject of course to the addition to support for OpenVMS v6.0

    Support for v2.3 is apparently a geographical decision. I was told that
    in europe it is considered 'retired' and support is charged outside a
    normal contract whereas here in the U.S it isn't. You're in GIA so
    things may be different again.

    So the answer is yes and no!

    Regards,
