Hi, A customer has an application running on NODEA, and they would like a friendly mail system on NODEB (say ALL-IN-1). Users will be mainly working on NODEA and will always connect to NODEA first. They would like users on NODEA to receive notification when mail arrives on NODEB. They will not do it any other way. They will not cluster. They will not go to NODEB first. I should also point out that they use only one VMS account and user access is controlled by the application - good huh? What do you think? Cheers, Stuart PS I've looked at other mail notification notes without success.

I don't think you can do exactly this - from what I remember, the notification code is all in Bliss, and it uses a VMS System service (Broadcast?) to notify all nodes in the cluster. Being VMS I imagine that's all you can expect it to do! However, you should be able to achieve what you want by having a job examine the Pending file for each user and present the results to the account on Nodeb. Before I ramble on with suggestions, perhaps someon'e done something similar? grahame |
