2938.0. "Cannot delete application area - base elements exiist" by COMICS::BARHAM (Norbert:) Tue Jun 29 1993 17:30

ALL-IN-1 3.0

Please slap my wrists but I've tried to RTFM...

I cannot work out how to delete an application area. When I try to DA (Delete
an Application Area) it says 'Site Elements exist - cannot delete area' or
in my customers case Base elements exist. I tried to follow STARS article
Application Area Cannot Be Deleted; Still Contains Elements
which says do :-

        CM
        I
Enter area name and press RETURN
        ALL
        XD
        PU

Then attempt to delete the application area again:

        MGT
        MA
        DA

However I do not see any application areas except BRITISH and SHARE under
CM I.

Is there another way to select and delete the elements in my new application
area ?

Thanks,

Clive

    CLIVE,

do you have the application e.g FRED selected back at AM or MA it
sounds as if you have OA selected and are trying to delete its areas

I did have an application AC selected with area AC_GAS selected under
AM and MA but this was not my own so I thought it probably had some
problems. I therefore created a new area NORB but I can't see that under
CM I. I can see it along with a number of other areas (like L123_BRITISH,
    MICA_SHARE, TT_TREV) under AM SEL<RETURN>{FIND}.
Should I be able to see my new NORB application under CM I ?

The customer has EARS as a Base application (installed by Kevin Laahs).
Does this mean I should be able to see it under CM I ? If not, how do I
    delete it ?

    Thanks,

    Clive,

I cannot speak for EARS since that is a thrird-party product. I would
have also thought that MICA shouldn't be there.

You should be able to see any area for which you are MAPped - note
that even if you create your own area you do not get access to it
unless you MAP yourself (only the MANAGER by default)

So MAP yourself and get back to us.

    Thanks,

We are MAPped, but doesn't CM I just give us access to the site
elements ? How do you delete the Base elements ?

    Cheers,
