2913.1 | Isn't it from ASCOT? | AIMTEC::WICKS_A | U.S.A 2 England 0 - I was there! | Thu Jun 24 1993 18:25 | 9 |
| Chris,
I think you'll find it's an ASCOT bulletin or something as opposed to
an ASSET - maybe you could ask them as they're only down the road
in Basingstoke and they have a notes file on node LARVAE.
regards,

2913.2 | UNSHARE tool update | IOSG::CHRISTIE | Chris Christie | Fri Jun 25 1993 16:34 | 12 |
|
Further to my original note (.0) it would appear that the UNSHARE
tool was developed as an ASCOT bulletin rather than an ASSET's package.
It has been pointed out to me that some ALL-IN-1 customer/internal
sites may have customised this UNSHARE tool to suit their own particular
needs. Also there may be other similar customisations/tools in existence for
refiling documents from SDAF to a user's PDAF in order to optimise SDAF size.
So I would also welcome any information regarding any such tools and how widely
used they are on ALL-IN-1 customer/internal sites.

Re: (.3)
Ann,
Further details about this UNSHARE tool can be found in the the
LARVAE::ASCOT_BULLETINS Note file (#18.0) which may give you some leads on
who to contact. The note seems to imply that this tool is intended for
ALL-IN-1 internal use only.

2913.6 | In SYSTIDY | SUBURB::BROWNSTONE | Out to lunch | Tue Jul 20 1993 16:01 | 24 |
| Chris,
There's another varient of this in the SYSTIDY asset.
However, as far as I can see the potential gain offered by this
process can easily be negated in an environment where
diskquotering of user accounts is enforced. You end up swapping
the hassle that you have maintaining large DAF's with the hassle
that the end-users give your call desk over disk-quota management.
Instead, how about looking at the housekeeping tools/options to facilitate
1. Automated conversion of system DAF's using a nominated disk
for workspace (also in SYSTIDY), to relieve housekeeping
efforts.
2. Full automation of archiving, perhaps by integration SLS
into ALL-IN-1 (currently being investigated by UK/European
I.S), to remove selected (old, or whatever) documents from
the system, then allow fully automated retrival.
