2901.1 | A EARS problem - DDS is innocent | AIMTEC::WICKS_A | U.S.A 2 England 0 - I was there! | Tue Jun 22 1993 17:31 | 15 |
| CT,
It's got nothing to do with DDS or WordPerfect - it's your ears modules
that aren't getting linked in. Make sure that your SITELINK24 is in the
directory you are linking from and contains the lines to link in EARS.
You are not linking in EARS.
Bear in mind that WordPerfect usually only likes being linked from
OA$SITE_BUILD_SHARE: so put your SITELINK24 both there and in
OA$BUILD_SHARE:

2901.2 | Need Help Again!!! | ZPOVC::CHIKLIAK | | Fri Jun 25 1993 03:47 | 40 |
| Hi,
Thanks for the information. We tried as suggested, but it failed with
the same results.
The results is that while in ALL-IN-1 Menu Screen, the user are not able
to move about from first screen, for example em, wp, exit, mgt all does
not respond except CTRL Y. We still get messages as in 2901.0.
We have tried all sort of combination in terms of moving files, for
example we move SITELINK24 to both OA$SITE_BUILD_SHARE and OA$BUILD_SHARE;
make certain that there is only one copy of oaini.scp at [allin1.lib_share]
which includes the information for both EARS and WordPerfect Integration.
We linked it from both location at OA$SITE_BUILD_SHARE and at
OA$BUILD_SHARE :
$ Set def OA$SITE_BUILD_SHARE
$ @A1LNKDRV
&
$ Set def OA$SITE_BUILD_SHARE
$ @OA$BUILD_SHARE:A1LNKDRV
We have even tried the following command :-
$ DEASSIGN/GROUP SMBSRVSHR
$ A1$DEFER == 0
$ @A1LNKDRV
Basically, we have tried to relink a number of times and it fails
with the same results.
What can we do now? Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance...

2901.3 | Reference To The Log Files.... | ZPOVC::CHIKLIAK | | Fri Jun 25 1993 07:30 | 13 |
| Hi,
You can access an example of the link that we have tried. The nodename
is ZPOTS1 and address 22.354. The path is
$1$DKA100:[CHIKLIAK.WORLD]DDS*.LOG files. Only two examples are
available.
You should be able to access them to view them.
Thanks in advance...

2901.5 | With a litle link - maybe try this? | MERIDN::FRIES | OA$OVER_EASY | Fri Jun 25 1993 20:13 | 57 |
| Hi,
I've seen this before while on-site at my previous customer. The link errors
appear during the linking of the TM server. Check the ALL-IN-1 EARS release
notes - you need to edit OA$BUILD_SHARE:A1LINK.COM and add the necessary code
to prevent these from happening.
I reviewed both of your log files and I'm not sure that you have a "clean"
oa$main.exe - because of these errors and WordPerfect. As mentioned before,
DDS is not the problem here. I'm working without my notes but I'll retrace
the steps I took to get these products to work together.
o Verify that all the required images that ALL-IN-1 will be linked against are
correctly installed - use the INSTALL utility. Check the ALL-IN-1 V2.4
install guide to get a listing.
o As much as it may hurt - deintegrate WordPerfect before linking in
ALL-IN-1 EARS. Check the WordPerfect Integration manual for this one. You
need to verify that EARS is working before adding another editor to your
worries! Reintegrate WordPerfect as the final step. If you deintegrate
WordPerfect - remember to comment out the init for WPCORP integration in your
site's OAINI.SCP file.
o As much as it may hurt (again) -try removing everthing thats sitting in
OA$SITE_BUILD_SHARE and OA$SITE_BUILD_LLV with the exception of your site
specific ALL-IN-1 startup file (A1V24_SITE_START.COM). Copy everthing that is
sitting in these areas somewhere where you can retrieve them quicky/safely if
need be (sys$login?). You must leave A1V24_SITE_START.COM in
OA$SITE_BUILD_SHARE because of the modifications for ALL-IN-1 EARS and/or any
site specifics needed, ie, if you are redefining OA$DDS_PRIME here, etc.
o Relink ALL-IN-1 from OA$BUILD_SHARE using A1LINKDRV. Copy the new image
files according to the instructions given in the managers's guide. Verify
file protections/ownership on the new files and restart ALL-IN-1.
The A1V24START.COM file should have also invoked your ALL-IN-1 site specific
startup file. Verify that ALL-IN-1 EARS has started. Enter ALL-IN-1 and test
(and test again).
o If this is all working for you then reintegrate WPCORP. Follow the
instructions given in the WordPerfect Integration manual. The reintegration
procedure relinks ALL-IN-1. If you are going to have problems again this is
where they will most likely be seen - during the reintegration. This was also
referenced in a previous reply. After the relink remenber to uncomment the
init for WPCORP in you site's OAINI.SCP file or you will get an error for the
OA$MAIN.EXE when you enter ALL-IN-1 since WordPerfect is reintegrated.
o Just a quick idea on the keystroke problems you reported - not being able to
use any of the function/ctrl keys or any keys in ALL-IN-1 after the relink. Try
recompiling/installing ALL of your form and text libraries. I semi-remember
experiencing this on an ALL-IN-1 upgrade once and the CSC recommended doing
this - it fixed the problem quite nicely!
Well, hope this helps.

Gary

2901.6 | Problem solved ! | ZPOVC::CHINGYUE | | Mon Jun 28 1993 03:00 | 11 |
| Hi,
The problem brought up by Chik Liak has been resolved ! Finally.
It was caused by a 'unsuccessful' installation of ALL-IN-1 2.0
update patch that leave the image 'broken'.
Everything's fine now, with the patch was de-installed, of cause.
Thanks for responding.
