2892.0. "Offer management Application" by ROMEDU::NEBBIA (Mario Nebbia @RIO - LS Rome Italy) Mon Jun 21 1993 16:26

A customer needs an ALL-IN-1 based application to produce standard offers. As
I know at the moment, the application should allow:

-	defining standard texts describing items

-	recall them to build a WPS-PLUS document

-	specify and/or change the price of each item while inserting the
	description in the letter

-	calculate the total price.

I think it is a very common problem (I solved a very similar one with other
pruducts before joining Digital): is there any asset/sample/example we can
start from?

My first idea is the use of TEXT_XXX functions: any better idea?

Suggestions, pointers and hints welcome. Regards

						Mario

Mario - this is pretty standard application reqs for an ALL-IN-1
application. Just design a form (Entry if you want to keep the data
around) or ARG to just prompt for it, etc, and gather the data you need.
Then MERGE the data into a letter using a template (.BLP file).

You can set up some other entry forms with corresponding datafiles behind
them to act as validation tables for your main form, etc.

The Application Programming Guide and the 2 APR volumes are good starting
points, etc. Also check out the 2 ALL-IN-1 books by Tony Redmond available
from Digital Press. Excellent references.

Have fun!
