VMS 5.5-2 ALL-IN-1 3.0 A customer is using the following commands: MAIL CREATE/NOSEND/NOEDIT/OPEN then COPY #MSGFILE OA$CURMES_FILE and he gets an error: "File currently locked by another user" I've tried this here, and I can't reproduce the problem. It's not the input file which is locked. He's used several files like his login.com etc. and he always gets the error. If he enters MAIL CLOSE_MESSAGE just before the COPY function, then it works. Anyone shed any light on this? Steve.

2828.1 | Same editor? | IOSG::SHOVE | Dave Shove -- REO2-G/M6 | Tue Jun 08 1993 17:20 | 10 |
Are you using the same editor as your customer is using? That's the only thing I can think of which might cause it to be non-reproducible. I tried it here with both ASCII (EDT) and WPS-PLUS. and can't reproduce it. BUT that was with a <possible future release>, not with SDC (sorry, SSB) v3.0. And they might have some non-DEC editor in use/ Dave. | |||||

They are using WPS-PLUS as their editor, and they can change it to a different one, and they still get the problem. I've jusy spoken to the customer, and he's told me that only certain people see the problem, some accounts don't have the problem at all. I can't see anything which the accounts have in common. Some are priv'ed, some not. Any ideas? Steve. |
