2807.0. "WordPerfect attachments, RMS_TO_BIN" by BIGTOY::ROGERSD (Rorey Davenport lives) Mon Jun 07 1993 07:55
This note is cross referenced in the MAILBUS and Windows_Office conferences.
Hi all,
I currently have a customer that is trying to send X400 mail
to non Digital sites. The problem is when they attach a
WordPerfect document the recieving MTA rejects it with an
UNDEFINED Bodytype.
Now the customer currently has RMS_TO_BIN set, which states
that all SEQUENTIAL files that have either a STREAM RECORD or
FIXED LENGTH RECORD format are affected by this setting. Doing
a DIR/FULL and ANALYZE/RMS on a WordPerfect file indicate that
this file meets this criteria on a VAX. The problem follows...
1. When sending from ALL-IN-1 IOS v3.0 with a WordPerfect
attachment, (WordPerfect integrated into IOS) capture
the NBS file, dump this and the attachment is in
MSG[DECBODY_01] when it should be MSG[DECBODY_07], for
MRX to successfully translate to CON_14. Because it is
in MSG[DECBODY_07], MRX sends this attachment as
DECBODY_19 (NBSNationallyDefined bodypart). Hence
rejection by remote non-DIGITAL mta.
This is not the case if WordPerfect is not integrated
and a WordPerfect document is transfered into ALL-IN-1
without conversion and then attached to the message.
But at this stage the document has a DSAB of .FGN,
Under these conditions then all is well and the
document is treated correctly.
2. TeamLinks, when sending mail again with a WordPerfect
attachment same as above, only difference, using
WordPerfect for Windows. Again if the .FGN WordPerfect
file is attached from the MAIN drawer (IOS) to a
TeamLinks document, then again all is correct.
3. DEC MAILworks, now it becomes interesting, if you
attach a WordPerfect document to a DEC MAILworks
document then this is translated correctly and the NBS
file shows the correct format and is passed to MRX
successfully, and translation to CON_14 occurrs.....
And all is well.
If Message Router recieves the correct NBS translation
MSG[DECBODY_07], then MRX will translate correctly to CON_14.
And all Non Digital site can recieve.
If any other documents are attached and met the criteria then
all is OK, eg 2020 spreadsheets.
hope someone can help.......

| Yes, regretably, WordPerfect decided ages ago when they first did their
integration to use DECBODY_01. As you say, it would have been better
(to say the least) if they'd used DECBODY_07.
You might try in the WordPerfect conference - press SELect or
Keypad-7.

| I just wish all these Wordperfect customers would push on them instead
of us - I wonder what kind of "deflectors" they use that always makes
this into a Digital problem...
