2785.1 | Other errors...?? | IOSG::HALLC | Denser than a Black Hole Singularity | Wed Jun 02 1993 10:37 | 8 |
| Hi Simon,
The installation WILL allow you to continue without CDA and NOTES. Did other
errors occur earlier in the checks? The message "mismatched software pre.."
also refers to system parameters. Have another look at the log file!
Cheers,
Chris.

2785.3 | Not enough disk space !! | HTSC19::SIMONLAU | | Thu Jun 03 1993 06:01 | 27 |
| Re: .1 & .2
Thanks for all your input.
There's a message saying that the system parameter CTLPAGES was too
low ! And the customer will correct that and retry after reboot the
system.
Another question comes out:
The customer has his ALL-IN-1 installed in disk #2 (has more than
enough space available) and his system disk is in disk #0 (SYS$DEVICE,
and has limited space available), during pre-installation checking the
disk space, a waring saying that not enough disk space for
installation.
The customer wants to install the new version into disk #2, what should
he do then ? Continue the pre-installation procedure ? Or ..... ??
Your response is much appreciated.
Thanks
Simon

2785.4 | Addition to .3 | HTSC19::SIMONLAU | | Thu Jun 03 1993 10:03 | 17 |
| Addition to .3:
One more question:
Is it possible to do a fresh installation without removing the old
system ?
The customer wants to keep his V2.4 system and has a fresh V3.0
system installation, but if he choose the fresh installation option,
it will check the existing directories, logicals ... , and refuse to
carry on !
(The customer doesn't want use the Upgrade/Coexit option !)
Thanks
Simon

2785.5 | Hide it if you want... | IOSG::PYE | Graham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's Apprentice | Thu Jun 03 1993 12:51 | 9 |
| You can fool the system into doing a fresh installation by making the
current system invisible. You can do this by deassigning all the OA$*
logicals, so that we can't find the image.
Please note that if you do this, the parts of the old system in system
directories will almost certainly be overwritten and it's very unlikely
that the old system will work again.
