2737.1 | Change in WPS-PLUS V4 | IOSG::NEWLAND | Richard Newland, IOSG, REO2-G/L2 | Fri May 21 1993 11:21 | 17 |
| The 'from page' and 'to page' are WPS-PLUS Formatter Print settings. In
WPS-PLUS V4.0 and V4.1 the 'from page' and 'to page' are not saved in the
document. This change was made to overcome the problem of users mailing
WPS-PLUS documents with 'from page' and 'to page' set which resulted in all
recipients of the document only seeing part of the document unless they
explicitly modified the WPS-PLUS Formatter print settings.
It appears that 'from page' and 'to page' are also not saved in the #0 to
#9 saved settings. I don't see any reason to prevent this because the
mailed document problem is only concerned with saving the values in the
document.
I don't know of any way of overcoming the WPS-PLUS V4 way of handling saved
settings, but you could ask in the WPS-PLUS conference.

2737.2 | Using 'User Defined Print Styles' | MERIDN::WALSH | | Mon May 24 1993 16:31 | 8 |
| It seems to me that the 'from page' and 'to page' are also not saved as
part of a USER DEFINE PRINT STYLE off the US menu. Is that true? If
they are 'saved', would there be a way to pass the name of the print
style in to WPPRINT and thus have the values of the from and to pages
used?
Thanks again,
Kristen

2737.3 | Yes and No | IOSG::NEWLAND | Richard Newland, IOSG, REO2-G/L2 | Mon May 24 1993 19:39 | 29 |
| The WPS-PLUS Formatter 'from page' and 'to page' print settings are not the
same as the ALL-IN-1 Print Style 'First page' and 'Last page' settings.
The former tells the WPS-PLUS Formatter to produce a partial listing file,
and is therefore only available if you print a document that will be
formatted by the WPS-PLUS formatter.
The latter instructs a VMS Print Symbiont to print a sub-set of the pages
of a listing file, and is available for all types of documents assuming
that the listing files are suitable for partial printing. It is equivalent
to the PRINT/PAGES DCL command.
All values of an ALL-IN-1 User Print Style are saved if you create your own
style. If you use Gold-Expand on the Print Document menu any changes are
for the current print operation only and are not saved.
You could create your own print style and call WPPRINT with that specified
in the #PRINT_TYPE symbol.
Not all listing files can be successfully partially printed using 'First
page' and 'Last page'. For example, a listing file may contain
initialization or control sequences which are used for several pages. If
the page containing the required sequences is not printed subsequent pages
may not print correctly.
What type of printer are you printing to?
