Hi, I have a customer who is running ALL-IN-1 Italian V3.0 (standard upgrade from V2.3). He is supposed to be using the English Lexicon dictionary as previous ALL-IN-1 version, but all he has at the moment is the Italian Lexicon. He wants the English. In another customer site who is running the ALL-IN-1 Italian V3.0 (standard Installation) we have the English and the Italian lexicon!!!??? I'd like to know how can I do to have two dictionaries without buy anything. Thanks & Regards Chiara

Chiara, I think dictionaries are part of WPS-PLUS and would be more properly discussed in the WPS-PLUS conference. Regards, Andrew.D.Wicks
2724.2 | Not a technical question (yet!!!) | IOSG::PYE | Graham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's Apprentice | Wed May 19 1993 18:43 | 10 |
It's a local marketing / selling decision how your customer gets the later versions of the lexicons to replace the ones they had before. I don't know whether we charge them for this or not. You might like to ask someone in the customer's sales office (unless that's you of course!!) Having found out how to sell them the lexicon, I posted details of how to actually get it working earlier in this conference. Graham
2724.3 | only Italian dict. delivered | VAXRIO::CALL_MARCIA | Wed Jun 02 1993 19:02 | 24
Hello Chiara, being a member of the ISE group who produced Italian V3 of ALL-IN-1 I can only second what Graham says: It was a country marketing decision which dictionaries come with V3. For Italy this was in fact only the Italian dictionary. You say your customer upgraded from V2.3, so let me clarify, that the current way of spellchecking is new since WPS-PLUS V4.0 and has been included into ALL-IN-1 with V3.0 for the first time. Before that only a few countries had spellcheckers with local dictionaries at all. So, I assume that the Italian version 2.3 did not have an Italian dictionary at all and therefore only could use the English one in V2.3. The dictionaries are produced by a third party company which implies that we are not allowed to give "copies" of them away for free! The only way I can see is that the customer buys another product which is called "International Lexicons" (or similar) and will provide all the dictionaries the customer wants. I'm not sure if one can receive only one or two of them, but maybe. This additional product should be available through the usual Digital delivery channels.
