2721.0. ""Delivery Failure"" by ZPOVC::CHINGYUE () Tue May 18 1993 02:42

        Hi,

        Could somebody enlighten me on the following delivery failure
        notification.

        ALL-IN-1 was unable to deliver an incoming NBS message. The message
        has been removed from Message Router and placed in the following
    	files :-
            Envelope - dev:[]xxx.nbs;
            Message  - dev:[]yyy.nbs;

        A customer has been receiving the above notification very
    	frequently.
        According to the sending end, it occurs when mails with Wordperfect
        attachments are sent. The logical OA$MTI_TRNS has been set to 1.
        Both on sending and receiving ends.

    Ching-U,

    As Grahame I think pointed out in the MAILbus conference you need
    to read the ALL-IN-1 Mail Management Guide for basic troubleshooting
    of mail problems.

    Also there are many previous discussions of this non-delivery and its
    meaning both in STARS and in this conference and its ancestors which
    may help you.

    regards,

2721.2A couple of things to checkIOSG::SHOVEDave Shove -- REO2-G/M6Thu May 27 1993 18:2313
    - Is is possible that the sending end has WordPerfect installed, and the
    receiving end doesn't?

    - Are there any messages (such as ACCVIO) in the fetcher log file
    OA$MTI_ERR: at the same time? Or in OaMtiMail.LOG in the VMS directory
    of the ALLIN1 [sic] account?

    Also, note that Oa$mti_trns = 1 makes it send _messages_ in ASCII, but
    has _no__effect_ on the translation of attachments. They'll still be
    sent in WordPrfect (or WPS-PLUS, or whatever).

    Dave.
