|  |     Hello,

    Looks like this is the best kept secret of the month.

    I wonder why there is no response at all. Is the question to dumb to
    answer or is the problem to hard.

    Perhaps we should use formal channels....

| 2713.2 | difference in attachment processing | AIMTEC::BUTLER_T |  | Mon May 17 1993 20:39 | 17 |
|  |     Beth and Jan,

    I read and re-read noted 1542 and 2402 (.5 and .8) and I think you
    should use the channels.

    In my case, it may be a question of to dumb to understand because
    there is something missing. What is going on inside ALL-IN-1 with
    the Attachment?

    It is not clear from 2402 if Teamlinks and ALL-IN-1 work both ways
    or not with attachments.

    Maybe Andrew, (he does those mail thingy's) can make sense of it
    for us.

|  |     Tim,

    Andrew has given up on this one, attempts to get a definite yes or no
    as to whether this works and if so how from both ALL-IN-1 and TeamLinks
    Engineering have so far proved unsuccessful hence why Beth posted this
    note attempting to elicit the secret from anyone.

| 2713.4 | Change MAIL READ ? | DELBOY::DORANA | My theory is this... | Tue May 18 1993 18:21 | 19 |
|  |     I don't have an answer that I can post, but...

    Having worked on systems with KEYPAK for ALL-IN-1 IOS, that does
    exactly what you want... They change MAIL READ in the relevant named
    data to be a DO KPAK_CODE:something.SCP

    In their script, they then look through the attachments (FOR
    CAB$ATTACH...) and call their own conversion routines if the document
    format is non standard, or just LIST if it's a normal format (ie WPS+).

    I guess you could do similar and check for format of RTF2 - calling
    your code if required to show the document.

    Hopefully that's enough of a pointer for now - I'm not in the office
    this week so I can't get any more info to you yet...

    Cheers,

    Andy

| 2713.5 | Add RTF as format ? | UTRTSC::SCHOLLAERT | Ajax, Ajax, Ajax... | Mon May 24 1993 21:38 | 20 |
|  |     Hello again,

    I am not going to give up on this one.

    Perhaps adding RTF1 and/or RTF2 to FORMAT.DAT can do the trick.

    Convert Document from RTF2 to WPS-PLUS works like a charm.
    ALL-IN-1 invokes CDA just like expected to do the convertion.

    Defining the edit, list and print functions should be doable.
    Perhaps this is a challenging issue for a support specialist studying
    for TCD level 8...

    Regards,

|  |     Jan,

    What would you define the edit etc functions as though?.... I guess I still
    don't understand why the experts are shy and won't explain the steps
    so that even a dumb EDT user such as myself could understand.

    Actually I think that Kevin Laahs hinted at something like that in
    the TeamLinks conference but it's all too technical for me.

| 2713.7 | WE NEED HELP | UTRTSC::SCHOLLAERT | Ajax, Ajax, Ajax... | Tue May 25 1993 07:17 | 33 |
|  |        Andrew,

       I think you can define the edit etc functions to run
       a script to convert the doc and list, edit and print the stuff.
       Keypak uses the same approach. I had a look at the scripts
       which perform the wellworking Convert Document functions.
       They contain all we need. But its lots of code.

       I think customers want a IOSG supported set of modifications.

       Since Simon was puzzled (13-JUL-1992) only questions has
       araise in a number of note conferences. The last advise from
       John Boebinger was: use Text as interchange format... Does not
       sounds like "digital the system integrator".

       But its not only ALL-IN-1. I am trying to get a pilot running
       (CDA, MCM, TeamLinks MAC and Win, Keypak, IOS and MAILworks),
       WPS-PLUS, Win Word, WP).
       Seems straightforward doesn't it. Mail based Conversion and
       (re)filing of attachments is a hell. Is RoadRunner going to make
       IOS / TeamLinks live easier ?

       I truly do not understand why there is no response. There must
       be someone who had to fix these problems somewhere !

       Perhaps Tony can arrange an Office Solutions Integration Seminar.
       Valbonne is fine.
       So I would say: everyone who thinks the field needs structured
       support, please reply to this note.

       Regards,

| 2713.8 | MAILbus conversion manager?? | WOTVAX::64354::Doran | I like traffic lights | Tue May 25 1993 17:44 | 11 |
|  | Jan,
If you are looking at sending mail around from multiple platforms to multiple
platforms, have you looked into using MAILbus Conversion Manager (MCM)?
Sounds like this may do the job for you - it can convert documents that are
mailed around 'on the fly'...
Worth a look?
Andy

|  |     Andy,

    MCM seems to be the best solution. Uses Keypak, CDA and IOS for
    conversion.
