2710.0. "ALL-IN-1 V3.0 & VTX V4.0" by GIDDAY::BURT (Chele Burt - CSC Sydney, DTN 7355693) Thu May 13 1993 06:44

Hello and Greetings,

Customer has just upgraded his ALL-IN-1 system from v2.4 to v3.0-1.
They have been successfully using VTX from ALL-IN-1 under the 2.4, and are now
finding a number of problems.
They are running VTX v4.0, which according to the ALL-IN-1 Installation, is
just fine. According to every article I've seen in STARS, and the SSA, what
they need is v4.1.
They don't want to upgrade unless it is absolutely to do so, as they hope to
upgrade to v5.1 in the not so distant future. I take it that VTX 5.1 is
supported?

The main problems they're getting relate to printing.
WP P to VTX$que returns an error
%VTX-E-WPS_NOHEADER-HEADER NOT FOUND - FILE NOT CREATED
There is zip in the tracefile.

Subscribers also experiencing print problems - no longer printing to the
default printer specified in their ALL-IN-1 profiles. Prints to SYS$PRINT
instead.

Printer definitions etc seem just fine.

Comments please?

Thanks & regards,

Chele B

Hello again,

I've just done a bit more reading and found that VTX 4.0 is NOT supported
under VMS 5.5-2.
My query about support for 5.1, however, remains.

Thanks & regards,

Chele B

Chele,

Seeing as everyone else is ignoring your notes, here's a wild guess to try and
help you:

I know of no reason why VTX V5.1 shouldn't work with ALL-IN-1 V3.0. The only
thing that springs to mind is you may have to invoke VTX/CLASSIC, just in case
there are some bits of the new interface that ALL-IN-1 doesn't understand. I
think VTX is invoked from a script, so this should be simple to customise to
add the qualifier.

However, just because it may work, doesn't mean we officially support it. I
don't know where you'd go to find that out.

2710.4it is supported and it does workRDGENG::POVEYTom, REO-D3/3G, DTN: 830-4263Tue May 18 1993 19:2019
first the admin bit -- please post questions like this in the
vtx_technical conference on VIA That one is scanned by VTX folk
regularly. VIA is a temporary home until casee:: reappears.

To answer the question: yes -- VTX V5.1 is supported but the support
comes with VTX not with ALL-IN-1. Also, it is improved in T5.2-4
(current field test) and may get improved still further before release.

VTX supplies a new script, VTX.SCP and a new command procedure,
VTX.COM. There is also another script to bring up the interrupt menu
while you are in VTX. You should copy the scripts to the site TXL
directory and "recompile". Copy the vtx.com to oa$library. The
installation guide for T5.2 gives more details. The V5.1 guide should
also give details but I don't have one handy to check.

I'm working with ALL-IN-1 to fix some of these integration issues. It
    will get better!

Yes,

I' sure, but it's been a while now so I can't remember exactly where - it was
in a couple of places.
VTX v4.0 was last supported under VMS 5.3

May have been in the VMS doco, and definitely on a CSC supported products
matrix.
