Hi there, I have a problem in my sender queue problem here ever since I upgraded my VMS system from V5.4-3 to V5.5-2 on my ALL-IN-1 V2.4 system. I guess the queue records got corrupted during the upgrade. I found that I have numerous(>50) entries in my sender queue that were sent out successfully but they got bounced back from my cluster sorter at a later time and then I have a lot of entries in my A1 mailbox. In other words, these queue entries have been looping for 3 days within my ALL-IN-1 system. I had checked MTILOG and MTIERR but found no errors. Here are some entries from SM MM DQ : *DON BEAUCHESNE 10-May-1993 07:32 R 0 A: CONSULTING CONTRACT STATU *J_TRACY R 0 Absence from Office *DON BEAUCHESNE 10-May-1993 09:17 R 0 i: ACTION ITEM LIST - TLA *DENNISTEO R 0 Update on supply chain imple Susan Lim @ZGO 10-May-1993 09:38 R 0 REMARK 24 HAS BEEN CREATED I *YC WU @TAO 07-May-1993 07:59 R 0 RE: Results of TPO Imagine e YT Teh @ZGO 10-May-1993 11:43 R 0 Airfare quotation *Robert Seed @AKO 08-May-1993 05:55 R 0 Freight Forwarder Change Asi SH SEAH @ZGO 11-May-1993 08:27 R 0 Standard Setting Update What's more "weird" is that those entries marked with * are not valid local ALL-IN-1 username. I do not know how they ever got into the queue. I had tried resetting the sender retry count (SRL) to a smaller number but these entries never get purged off. I had also searched OA$MTI_DATA and DISK$MTS:[MB$.MR.MSG*] but found no *.NBS files dated between 07-May-1993 and 10-May-1993. This means that the entries were sent and recreated with the current date as they bounced back. Well, can someone let me know how this could have happened and how can I update the queue entries to reflect the correct status ? Do I zero off the entry MAIL QUEUE in PENDING.DAT ? Thanks for any help. I have searched the conference but found no solution. Chang.

Chang, the non-local usernames are auto-forwarded mail messages, there's nothing weird about them. If user A sends mail to user B who has auto-forward set to user C then when the Fetcher processes the message it reposts the message on user B's system with a sender of User A. I assume you've tried running the Sender interactively SM MM RS? if you think you have a corrupt Mail Queue record then you need to contact your CSC for support. regards, Andrew.D.Wicks |
