| Monica,
I've been away too long! the words distribution list, long address
and Show header mean something but I'm having trouble picturing what
your seeing (must be all that Californian beer) so could you explain
a bit more.

You shoulda tried some British or German beer - then it would all
make sense!
alright: par exemple:
we have a distribution list with two users on it. at the menu our
customer writes:
TO: @BLORT
finishes creating his mail message, exits, and at the menu does a
SH (show header).
What he sees at the bottom of the screen is:
TO: Remote Addressee (SXML%"joesmith%4154498"@FAX
TO: Remote Addressee (SXML%"joejones%4154498"@FAX
And the right hand bracket is missing; neither recipient will get
the message. However, if we type the name into the to field ourselves
thus:
TO: SXML%"joejones%4154498"@FAX
and hit return, it will look the same, i.e.
TO: Remote Addressee (SXML%"joejones%4154498"@FAX
but WILL reach its destination, and doing a SH will give the
complete address with the right bracket included.
Painted a better picture?

2596.4 | SF has 3 brew pubs - I did them all! | AIMTEC::WICKS_A | on the Streets of San Francisco | Wed Apr 28 1993 22:48 | 22 |
| Monica,
OK I did do my fair share to support the Fuller, Smith and Turner
Chiswick brewery too but I believe in supporting the local brew pubs
too in the hope that one day America may forsake the tapwater that
passes for beer here (:==:)
On the techical question:
Naturally enough when I try it I get the ) so I have to ask whether you
can reproduce this /NOCUSTOM?
I both typed SXML%"joejones%4154498"@FAX at the TO: field and put it
into a DL and got (live cut-and-paste from another window!)
TO: Remote Addressee ( SXML%"joejones%4154498"@FAX )
Wonder if I could get a trip to Canada out of this (:==:)

2596.6 | No 'known' bugs in MAIL code! | AIMTEC::WICKS_A | on the Streets of San Francisco | Fri Apr 30 1993 20:50 | 14 |
| Monica,
Well that's different isn't it? I could only go on the example you posted
in .3.
How are you adding this emmeline address? i've just tried DLM, i've
typed in the address by hand from DL E etc etc and the address always
looks fine to me,
How about a reproducible set of commands that show this happen please.

| Well,
I wanted to get him to give me more info, but he's changed the
way he does things entirely an added everything to DDS.
He wants to keep my call open until his upgrade this weekend -
we'll decide next week whether he wants to continue investigations....
Monica
(sorry for the wait!)

2596.8 | Reopen topic - need fix as well.. | TAV02::CHAIM | Semper ubi Sub ubi ..... | Thu Aug 12 1993 08:31 | 16 |
| I would like to reopen this topic:
It appears that one of our customers using ALL-IN-1 V2.4 has a similar (if not
identical) problem.
They have written a FAX interface (a CMU). If long addresses are entered
straight into TO: then the mail is sent correctly. If the address is added as
part of a distribution list, then apparently the address gets truncated.
The addresses are very similar in nature to those described in the original
replies.
Thanks,
Cb.
