This is cross posted in the MAILBUS conference.
My customer's configuration is ALL-IN-1, MR 3.2, MRX 2.2. They have
a problem replying in ALL-IN-1 to an X.400 message received from
CCmail via Softswitch. The problem is due to a DDA with the word
"at" in it.
ALL-IN-1 <==> MR3.2 <==>MRX2.2 <==> TELEMAIL X.400 <==> Softswitch <==> CCmail
I have done both X.409 and NBS dumps on the inbound message. The sender
address in both the X.409 and NBS files is:
COUNTRY=US
ADMD=TELEMAIL
PRMD=HOUSE
SURNAME=WIGGS-CCMAIL
GIVEN=DAVID
DDA= DDA TYPE = CCMAIL
DDA VALUE = DAVID WIGGS AT CSG
But when I read this message in ALL-IN-1 the sender address is:
DAVID WIGGS-CCMAIL@CSG*CCMAIL\DAVID WIGGS@3=HOUSE@2=TELEMAIL....
You can see that ALL-IN-1 took the "AT CSG" out of the DDA value
and appended it onto the end of the name as "DAVID WIGGS-CCMAIL@CSG".
I know ALL-IN-1 uses "@" and "AT" as delimiters but I don't
think it should be messing with the DDA value. Because ALL-IN-1
does this, we cannot reply to these messages.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Can anyone recommend
a solution? I called ALL-IN-1 support and they just said that
the remote X.400 system will have to put in a substitution character
for the "AT". But I talked to the people who manage the CCmail part
of this and they say it is not possible.
Thanks very much in advance for your help,
Brenda Maas

ALL-IN-1 IOS itself doesn't convert AT to @ - so this must be being
done somewhere in MAILBUS. I expect you'll get an answer in their
conference.
It's possible that it's being done by the code which converts the
current NBS message format (sometimes referred to as "format version
2") to the ancient ("v1") format used by ALL-IN-1. This code was
supplied to IOS development years ago, by the group then responsible
for Message Router. Problems in this code are very hard to get fixed,
due to the age of the code and ownership issues. Someday, IOS will stop
using it and migrate to the more modern interface with Message Router
("MRIF") - at least, we hope so!
Good luck,
Dave.
