2553.0. "DDS and X400 address are truncated in ALL-IN-1" by BUSHIE::SETHI (Man from Downunder) Tue Apr 13 1993 08:00

    Hi All,

One of our biggest and greatest customers has ALL-IN-1 IOS 3.0-1
installed. They are having the following problem:

    1. Customer adds an external X400 address (for example WordPerfect's)
       in the DDS database.

    2. User wants to send EM to WPCORP they do an EM SMD.

    3. The reverse lookup address is truncated and can only hold 49 chars.

The customer wants to know if this is a limitation and wants a work
around. I know that ALL-IN-1 is not X400 complient and this is more
than likely a limitation. However this customer is a government
department and a decision was taken at the ministerial level to
register all external organisations in the DDS database.

What all of this boils down to in a nutshell is that they are not too
happy about this limitation. They have stated that this limitation is
having an impact on their ability to carry out a ministerial directive
and are willing to escalate this.

Sorry people I do pick the really horrible calls that are surrounded in
controversy :-). I hope this one does not turn out to like the one I
had to CLD at priority 2 8*(.

Any input regarding this problem would be gratefully accepted so that I
could give the customer a more than reasonable answer.

    Regards,

    Sunil

    Sunil,

It's just an FMS field called MAIL_ADDRESS on a form called
    DDS$INDEX$VIEW - you've heard of customisation?? (:==:)
