2486.0. "Service Level Objectives, Support Manpower, ISOR (operations Review)" by CHGV04::PROCTOR (How 'bout those Cubs...) Mon Mar 29 1993 19:41

    Hi All,

For all of you who have been out to customer sites, could you please
    answer the following questions:

    1. What Service Level Objectives (SLOs) have been established for
ALL-IN-1 systems? If they have some established, how are they being
    measured?

    2. How many support people are needed to support a large ALL-IN-1
system and what types (System Manager, Administrator, Operators,...)? I
don't need the network support piece but if you have that, great.
Please list number of people and type/primary jobs:

    3. What functions do they have automated, besides the normal ALL-IN-1
jobs? Tools could include; VCS, DECschedule, SLS, DECalert, Helpdesk
    software, Watchdog, DECps,...

I am going into a large ALL-IN-1 cluster configuration >1000
subscribers and want to know what other companies are doing and how
much manpower they spend. Does anyone have any Operations Review
    reports for ALL-IN-1 sites?

    Regards,
    Jerry Proctor

I am the Account Rep. for a large (2000+ subscribers) ALL-IN-1 site. We have
a specialist on-site and I would recommend contacting him. My customer's SLO
is 93% of all "transactions" must complete in 1 second or less and they do
very extensive tracking of all sorts of information.

Contact Henry Reindl at (210) 498-9124 and he can give you additional info.
and put you in touch with the right person from the customer if you need
extreme detail.

Regards,

Mike

RE: -1 With further research, their SLO seems to be 95% of all
transactions as measured by the elapsed time in the ALL-IN-1 logging
feature to be less than 10 seconds. It seems they have a program that
reads the logging data and parses it down to those statistics.
