2404.0. "oa$dir and oa$dir_parse" by CROCKE::YUEN (Banquo Yuen, Darwin Australia) Fri Mar 12 1993 07:42

    Hello

    It seems that the form WPSVMSGET has been changed since V2.3 to V2.4.
    The OA$DIR has been changed to OA$DIR_PARSE so that the user has to
    type "filename." in order to include "filename.". But with OA$DIR,
    typing "filename" can include "filename.".

    Is there any documentation on using the DSABs
    OA$DIR, OA$DIR_PARSE and OA$DIR_SEARCH?

    What is the purpose of having this change? One customer don't want the
    change because he is a bit slack in typing one more "."!

    Regards
    Banquo

    My researches show that this change was made during V2.3, rather than
    V2.4, development, on 22-Aug-1988.... Not surprisingly, after all this
    time, I can't find any detailed records of why this was done, and the
    CMS history just baldly states "Use OA$DIR_SEARCH". I expect it was
    done to work round one of the deficiencies in OA$DIR.

    If your customer doesn't like it, you can always customise it back
    again.
