I am Merge/Merge_list ignorant and would like a few pointers. Having stumbled through a customer example I have a question: would Merge directives i.e. specifying field length <field:leng> and <&tab> work in a Merge_list operation? Doesn't seem to work the way I'm doing it........ and the customer, who seems to have more experience, complains it doesn't work either. Help? Monica

Monica, sorry, but the <&TAB> and <DATASET.FIELD[KEY]> type entries do not work in MERGE_LIST operations. You can only include fields from the list file. The MERGE function _can_ use these entries. What are you actually trying to do? Is the MERGE_LIST essential for some reason? mb |
