I work in a Learning Center, and we get a lot of calls from people who have a VAXmail distribution list already created and would like to be able to use that in ALL-IN-1. Or, they may have gotten a VAXmail message as part of a VAXmail distribution list and they'd like to take that VAXmail distribution list and somehow cut and paste it into an ALL-IN-1 distribution list. My wish is that it would be possible to cut and paste names and addresses into an ALL-IN-1 distribution list. Thanks, Kathy Norton MRO3 Learning Center

The general idea (of having a proper editor for distribution lists) is a good one. However, people should realise that it won't necessarily help in cases such as you mention, as Vaxmail distribution lists are typically not usable within ALL-IN-1 ('cos the addresses will be wrong, unless they're local users and their VMS account names are the same as their ALL-IN-1 account names). Incidentally, distribution lists are in fact stored as simple ASCII text files, so it would be quite possible to make a little customisation which allowed them to be editted with a normal editor. The only problem with this is that it would allow users to enter invalid address into the list, which would only be found when they tried to use the list to address mail. Dave. |
