2324.0. "Profile change oddity" by GIDDAY::BURT (Chele Burt - CSC Sydney, DTN 7355693) Thu Feb 25 1993 01:31

Greetings,

ALL-IN-1 V2.4 (British)
Yesterday, a non-privileged user did a US SPD to change her name. This change
did not cause a network update to be done, therefore the system distribution
lists were not updated on the cluster.
Customer tried doing the same thing, from both a priviliged and a non-
privileged account. Both changes were reflected in the network profile.
The customer went to the user profile in edit mode, and filed the "changes"
without making any changes (because the user changes were already there)
He did NOT "quit" out (ie EXIT screen) & thus caused the network profile for
the user to be updated.

Any thoughts?

Chele

2324.1I think this one has been fixed..?IOSG::TYLDESLEYThu Feb 25 1993 10:5317
Hi Chele,
I haven't been able to follow exactly what the customer did, but I notice
that the system is V2.4. I found the following change made for V3.0, which
I suspect is trying to cure what you are seeing:

"Problem(s) fixed or functionality added:
The accounts management sub-system fails in a number of areas to correctly
maintain the network profile NETWORK.DAT. The procedures make reference to
SMNETUPDT.SCP which was designed to run in the context of the profile
forms.

SM_MODIFY_NETWORK.SCP (1) !New

This new script has four modes, ADD, DELETE, EDIT and RENAME and each
may be tested independently of the accounts management sub-system....etc."
