2311.0. "$ in ALL-IN-1 username causes seeding problems and SFCP" by BUSHIE::SETHI (Man from Downunder) Tue Feb 23 1993 03:29

    Hi All,

A customer is upgrading from ALL-IN-1 2.4 to 3.0 and has SFCP installed
and has run into a number of problems. Having looked at the
OAFC$PART_SEED.LOG;1 and SFCP_LOG.LOG;1 it appears that rooted logicals
may be at the heart of the problem. I say this because the one user
that didn't have the problem did not have rooted logicals for his login
    directory.

None of the user drawers were seeded into the system partition properly
and the conversion of the SFCP has problems. The above logfiles are
too large to include they can be found on RIPPER::[SETHI] and the
    protections have been set.

The question having got this far what can the customer do to get out of
    the mess ?

Breifly I will add some of the intersting bit's here so in future
anyone else who has this problem can compare the error messages below.

    Regards,

    Sunil

2311.1Seeding is the problemA1WKST::lawrenceJohn Lawrence @ IOSGTue Feb 23 1993 10:407
I think the SFCP migration would work if the seeding program works. The
SFCP Migration tool requires the drawers to exist. If they are not seeded
they do not exist. I will see if I can find out anything about the drawer
seeding problem.

Cheers,

2311.2The "$" in the username may be the cause of the prob.BUSHIE::SETHIMan from DownunderWed Feb 24 1993 05:0427
    Hi John,

The story so far is ....

The customer allowed me to logon and have a look the first thing I did
was to do a SM MFC MD all the drawers were seed for the users. The
    following was displayed:

       1 [$CHEESE]CHEESE $$CHEESE
       2 [$MIX]MAIN $$MIX
       3 [A1$SCRIPT]MAIN A1$SCRIPT
       4 [ADAMS DAVID]MAIN DJA

A newdir into an account showed no problems at all. It looks like the
accounts with a "$" are causing the problem. What also interesting is
that the $CHEESE account has [$CHEESE]CHEESE as the drawer and not
    MAIN.

The customer said that the only account that he has problems with as
far as he can tell ate the one's with a "$". I have suggested that he
renames one of them and removes the "$".

Have any of you got any thoughts on the subject of the "$" ?

    Thanks,

    Sunil
2311.3$<username> caused the problemBUSHIE::SETHIMan from DownunderThu Feb 25 1993 03:0014
    Hi All,

The problem has been solved the "$" was removed from the ALL-IN-1
username. I mislead myself because I looked at the drawer that was
seeded didn't have a rooted logical and hence came to the conclusion it
    was a rooted logical problem.

So for those of you who are contemplating upgrading an ALL-IN-1 system
look out for ALL-IN-1 usernames starting with "$". Hence I have changed
    the title of the note.

    Regards,

    Sunil
